The Corrections Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network today confirmed the opening dates of its work and vocational training placements. Workshops in joinery, textiles, industrial laundry and print, and horticulture units at Westbrook Resettlement Centre and Northgate Custody Centre, open for placements on Monday 21 September 2026. Together they offer 640 places each week.

Placements are allocated through the sentence plan and combine productive work with training towards a recognised vocational certificate. The horticulture units grow produce for the kitchens of the establishments, and the laundry and textile workshops meet the needs of the Department's estate. Those in placements are paid a weekly wage, part of which may be saved towards release.

Offending behaviour programmes, covering thinking skills, substance misuse and the reduction of violence, begin on Monday 28 September 2026 and are delivered in groups of no more than ten by trained facilitators. Eligibility is determined at the sentence planning review. Details of every programme, and of the steps from reception to release, are set out on the Rehabilitation page of this site.
