Press Release
Corrections Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network Established
Office of the Spokesperson

The Corrections Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Department is responsible for the safe and decent custody of persons committed by the courts of the Network, for their rehabilitation while in custody, and for their supervision and resettlement on release.
On establishment the Department assumed responsibility for the five custodial establishments and the court custody suite that had been operated under interim arrangements by member organisations since 10 August 2026. At the point of transfer, 1,046 persons were held in custody across the five establishments, against an operational capacity of 1,340 places. Some 1,120 staff transferred to the Department with the establishments.
With its establishment complete, the Department today launches its official website at corrections.gov.vin. The site carries the register of custodial facilities, visiting arrangements for families, the programmes available in custody, the Department's standards and its first statistical release, together with press releases and official statements.
The register of facilities, the visiting arrangements and the dates on which education and work programmes begin are the subject of separate announcements published today. General enquiries may be sent to contact@corrections.gov.vin.
